As you can imagine being an Australian mushing dogs in Canada I often get asked the question of how I got started in the sport. Well its not really that different to a lot of mushers in Australia, just perhaps that I have taken the addiction to an international level. It all started with a Siberian and a scooter. I started racing from Ballarat, Victoria, where I went to University. My mushing career began with one Siberian Husky, Oscar. I was researching different dog breeds and I settled on a Siberian. During my research I stumbled upon sled dog racing in Australia and I knew that this was something I wanted to try. After racing for a couple of years in Australia, I then spent a winter in Minnesota working at a sled dog racing kennel. I learnt a lot during this experience and fell even more in love with the sport.
Over the last four years, I have been racing and building a kennel of Alaskan huskies in Canada. We are now ready to take on the World Championships in the 6 dog mid distance class.
